Happy 2014 and welcome back!
By now, I’ve pretty much stopped shamelessly trolling for Happy Birthday
wishes and it’s time to get back to work.
(It was just this week so, if you missed it, it’s still not too late….) In this installment, I’m going to rave about
glass-tile mosaics.
I work with a company on the East Coast that makes amazing
mosaics with multi-colored 3/8-inch glass tiles. Starting with any artwork (e.g. photo,
painting, graphics, etc.), their high-tech process cranks out decorative works
of art. The attached, rendered tear sheet
shows a concept I am developing for a client.
If you look closely, you can see the tiny individual tiles in each
mosaic. Here, I am two possibilities
with different framing options: grinder
finished stainless steel and solid cherry hardwood pegged at the corners.
Glass-tile mosaics are extremely versatile. You can easily incorporate any theme into
your interiors: history, science,
technology, nature, etc. You are limited
only by your imagination! They make a
durable, washable surface that’s rated for residential floors. They’re can also be installed in wet
environments (e.g. shower stalls) or even underwater!
